On this 2½ hours Jack the Ripper Tour we shall explore how an Autumn of Terror in 1888 can still chill to the bone to this very day.

London’s East End was seen as a world apart and in 1888 the sort of place where one might not survive long. However, there is only one person that can claim the title of Whitechapel Murderer – Jack the Ripper!

Throughout the Jack the Ripper Tour we will explore the historical background of the Whitechapel murders and their passing into a genre almost in their own right. We will examine how public perception of these murders has been shaped by Jacks’ portrayal on TV and Film and compare that to the reality of 1888.

On our Jack The Ripper Tour step back and imagine gas-lit alleys, hear the voices of the “Children of the ghetto” crushers, coves, slummers and unfortunates.

The Whitechapel murders have assumed mythic status. They are gruesome but gripping. Our tour will fascinate anyone fascinated by this unsolved mystery and who wants to learn more about tales of the “People from the Abyss”

Above all we shall remember the tragic lives of those women who had friends and loved ones, who struggled daily to survive and were not born merely to be ciphers in a serial killers story.
As with all our walking tours we limit the size of the group for the Jack the Ripper Tour to ensure you have a positive experience and can see and hear the guide easily.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
• Walk the same streets as the unfortunates of Spitalfields. Visit three murder sites plus two other possible Ripper sites
• Learn about the clue and non clue of Goulston Street
• Walk under the arch indicating the Doss houses used by two of the unfortunates
• Learn about the church where soliciting was over looked if you kept moving
• See a building that stands testament to the East Ends immigrant past and present
• Explore the dark passages and alleys that the ‘unfortunates’ would still recognise today
• Pose for a picture at locations used in the BBC TV mini-series Whitechapel
